During the Proskills Award 2011 Ceremony, Simon Watling was announced as Winner of the UK Master Fitter Competition 2011.
The UK Master Fitter Competition 2011 started with 7 regional heats taking place between May and mid July 2011. The 6 highest scoring technicians from the regional events competed in the UK final held at the WorldSkills London 2011 event on 5th October 2011.
Says Maria Charlton of Independent Windscreen Academy: ‘The competition provided the ideal opportunity for Automotive Glazing Technicians across the UK to showcase their skills and abilities. We succeeded in having a successful and a specially designed, practically based, industry specific competition for them. This success is thanks to a lot of enthusiastic industry representatives. It was good to see so many of them at the award ceremony’.
Other medal winners were Steven Wynn and Andrew Fountain.
